Galapagos, el verdadero paraiso ♡

Eilen palasin Portoviejoon viikon mittaiselta YFU:n retkeltä. Päätin kirjoittaa mahdollisimman pian että muistan paremmin mitä kaikkea tapahtui ja mitä näin.

Ensimmäinen toukokuuta matkustimme aamulla Quitoon. Bussimatka oli kahdeksan tuntia. Lähdimme Simonin, Håvardin ja Lean kanssa Portoviejosta joskus aamu seitsemän maissa ja olimme ensimmäiset jotka saapuivat Quitoon. Kävimme syömässä Subwayssa, joka oli sinänsä aika iso juttu, koska täällä Portoviejossa ei ole Subia :P Myöhemmin me päätimme ”eksyä” ja otettiin randomisti joku bussi keskustaan. Loppujen lopuksi päädyimme muutaman kilometrin päässä olevaan kauppakeskukseen. Ja se oli muuten ihan sairaan iso ostari, viis kerrosta ja silleen… Parin tunnin hengailun jälkeen päätimme palata, muttei meillä ollut mitään hajua mikä bussi vie takaisin hotellille. Otimme sitten yks bussi joka meni oikeaan suuntaan. Onneksi huomasin kun me käännyttiin väärään suuntaan. Me jäätiin kyydistä ja palattiin hotellille kävellen. Osa muistakin vaihtareista olivat saapuneet sillä välin kun me oltiin oltu seikkailemassa.

Perjantaina sitten aamulla heräsimme 5.30 ja suuntasimme lentokentälle. YFU:lta saimme aamupalapakkaukset, koska emme ehtineet syömään aamupalaa. Me lennettiin ensin Guayaquiliin ja sitten Galapagoksille. Galapagoksella kello on tunnin vähemmän kuin mantereella. Lentokentällä meitä oli vastassa meidän opas, Jairo. Menimme bussilla laiturille, josta me sitten jatkoimme pienillä moottoriveneillä meidän laivalle. Söimme lounaan ja samaan aikaan siirryimme ensimmäiseen kohteeseemme. Menimme pienelle saarelle. Saari näytti kaukaa vain hienolta valkoiselta hiekkasaarelta, jossa on muutamia isoja tummia kiviä. Mutta lähestyessämme saarta näimme, että ne ”tummat kivet” olivatkin merileijonia. Ja se saari oli todellakin ihan täynnä niitä. Ne olivat todella suloisia. Kävelimme saarella ja otimme kuvia ja ihastelimme pieniä söpöjä merileijonan pentuja. Näimme myös yhden valaan luuranko.

Noin tunnin jälkeen pistimme snorklausvehkeet ylle ja lähdimme tutkimaan merta. Seuraavan tunnin aikana sain nähdä tosi monta kirjavaa ja hienoa kalaa. Ja no olivat myös isoja. Isoimmat olivat jotain 40 cm pitkiä. Näin myös muutaman merileijonan uivan nopeasti ohi. Jotkut näkivät paikalla myös hain, mutta en lähtenyt etsimään sitä.

Snorklauksen jälkeen palasimme laivalle ja söimme illallista. Illallisen jälkeen meillä olikin sitten vuorossa vain vapaata ajan viettoa. Istuimme Ariellin kanssa laiva kannella katselemassa tähtiä. Ja niitä oli toooooosi paljon. Yöllä laiva keinui aika paljon kun olimme avomeren aalloissa, mutta onneksi olin nukkumassa.

Lauantai

Olimme yön aikana ajaneet Galapagosin suurimman saaren, Isabelan, pohjoisosaan. Matkan aikana olimme ylittäneet päiväntasaajan kahdesti. Meillä oli ensimmäisenä ohjelmassa veneajelu. Näimme pingviinin! Se oli tosi pieni ja aika suloinen. Näimme myös sinijalkaisia lintuja, joiden nimi on englanniksi blue-footed boobies. (Kaikki matkamuistokaupat olivat täynnä paitoja, joissa luki ”I love boobies” :P ) Näimme hienoja maisemia, mustia pieniä meri-iguaaneja, rapuja, lintuja, isoja aaltoja, pelikaaneja ja merileijonia. Myöhemmin palasimme laivalle ja valmistauduimme snorklaamaan. Palasimme veneillä yhteen luolaan, jossa olimme käyneet aiemmin aamulla. Kaikki hyppäsivät veneestä vuorollaan veteen. Vesi oli melko kylmää koska me oltiin luolassa eikä aurinko paistanut sinne. Täällä snorklauskerralla näimme pieniä meduusoja. Ne olivat tosi hassuja. Yks meduusa näytti lähinnä pieneltä läpinäkyvältä suolakurkulta, mutta sen sisällä oli kolme pientä valoa; sininen, vihreä ja punainen. Ne näyttivät ikään kuin pienen pieniltä ledivaloilta jotka syttyivät ja sammuivat. Näimme myös paljon muun mallisia pieniä meduusoja valojen kanssa. Näimme myös paljon lisää erilaisia kaloja, muutamia kilpikonnia ja yks lintu, joka ei voi lentää, muttei ole pingviini.

Lounaan jälkeen meillä oli noin tunti vapaata aikaa. Joten yhdet tytöt kysyivät, että voimmeko hyppiä laivasta. Se näytti aika hauskalta. Mutten uskaltanut heti ensimmäisenä hypätä katolta asti, joten hyppäisin ensin alemmasta kerroksesta. Mutta myöhemmin kun lähes kaikki muukin olivat hypänneet katolta, niin mäkin halusin hypätä sietä. Meidän opas sanoi että se hyppää mun kanssa. Joten sit mun oli pakko hypätä. Ja oikeastaan se oli aika hauskaa J

Luonaan aikana olimme siirtyneet saarelle, jonka nimi on Fernandina. Siellä snorklasimme uudestaan. Tällä kertaa näimme paljon erilaisia merisiilejä. Ainakin kolme erilaista; yksi oli pieni ja vihreä, toinen oli iso ja musta ja kolmas oli keskikokoinen musta mutta sen piikit oli tosi hassut, ikään kuin pienet sinertävät patukat… Ja tietenkin lisää kaloja. Näimme tällä kertaa myös kilpikonnia todella läheltä. Näimme myös yhden merileijonan leikkivän vedessä meidän edessä varmaan kahden minuutin verran. Sen meno vedessä näytti niin vaivattomalta ja helpolta. Se naama oli vaan jotenkin niin tyytyväisen näköinen sen uidessa. Merileijonat todellakin nauttii uimisesta.

Snorklauksen jälkeen palasimme laivalle, vaihdoimme vaatteet ja menimme tutustumaan Fernandinaan jalkaisin. Saari oli täynnä meri-iguaaneja. Niitä oli todellakin ihan järkyttävä määrä. Ja ne olivat siis lähinnä vain löhöämässä kalliolla ja lämmittelemässä. Näimme myös todella monia rapuja. Saari, jossa olimme, on tulivuori, ja sen odotetaan purkautuvan tänä vuonna. Illalla vietimme aikaa muutaman laivan työntekijän ja Jairon kanssa.

Sunnuntai

Yön aikana olimme taas palanneet taas Isabelalle. Tällä kertaa aloitimme päivän tutustumaan paikkaan jalkaisin. Näimme isoja keltaisia iguaaneja. Ne olivat mun mielestä vähän hassun näköisiä. Niillä oli heidän vartalon kokoon nähden lyhyt häntä. Tai siis kun mä olen tottunut näkemään näitä Portoviejossa asuvia todella pitkähäntäisiä iguaaneja. Meille kerrottiin, että mantereella asuvat iguaanit olivat alun perin matkalla Galapagokselle, mutteivat jostain syystä päässeet perille. Näimme myös yhden maalla asuvan kilpikonnan. Se oli isompi kuin merikilpikonnat. Näimme myös tosi isoja heinäsirkkoja. Myöhemmin kävelemisen jälkeen palasimme rannalle ja pistimme taas snorklausvehkeet ylle ja menimme snorklaamaan. Tällä kertaa emme nähneet sinänsä mitään uutta; samoja hienoja kaloja, merisiilejä ja muutama merileijona ja kilpikonna.

Lounaan jälkeen menimme kävelemään taas toisessa paikassa. Näimme lähinnä vain hienoja maisemia ja muutamia lintuja. Sen jälkeen oli taas vuorossa snorklausta. Tällä kertaa oli pilvistä, joten oli vaikeampi nähdä mitään ja vesi oli kylmää. Näin muutamia isoja meritähtiä. Tällä kertaan emme snorklanneet niin paljoa. Illalla lähdimme taas seuraavaa saarta kohti. Avomeren aallot olivat todella isoja ja mä tunsin oloni hieman merisairaaksi, vaikkei mulla ennen ole ollut ongelmaa laivassa olemisen kanssa. Mutta toisaalta laiva oli suhteellisen pieni ja aallot isoja…

Maanantai

Meillä oli aamupala jo kello 6. Menimme heti aamutuimaan kävelemään saarelle, joka oli tällä kertaa Santiago. Näimme paljon hämähäkkejä, rapuja, pieniä liskoja ja toisen rotuisia merileijonia ja hienoja maisemia. Palattuamme laivalle paljon tavallista aiemmin, menin nukkumaan. Matkustimme samalla seuraavaan kohteeseen, mutta laiva ei liikkunut niin paljoa kuin aiemmin. Ennen lunasta meillä oli vuorossa vielä kerran snorklausta. Tällä kertaa Jairo tuli mukaan, ja bongasi muutamia juttuja meille nähtäväksi. Näimme muutama iso rausku, muutama hai, meritähtiä ja simpukoissa asuvia rapuja. Mäin yhden meritähden, joka oli tosi hieno. Se oli sinipilkullinen. Mutta se sininen väri oli tosi voimakas sininen, ja se näytti tosi hienolta. Harmittaa vähän etten omista veden kestävää kameraa. Meinaan siellä veden alla oli tosi paljon hienoja juttuja.

Lounaan jälkeen pelasimme pienellä porukalla Unoa ja korttia. Päivällisen jälkeen pakkasimme laukut. Päivällisen aikana olimme saapuneet Santa Cruz -nimiselle saarelle. Pakkaamisen jälkeen rantauduimme tutustumaan kaupunkiin. Olo oli muuten hieman outo. Kun kävelimme kadulla, niin tuntui koko ajan, että huojuttaa ja jalat yrittivät pitää mua pystyssä niin kuin silloin, kun olen laivassa… :P No lähes kaikki palasimme laivalle joskus kymmenen aikoihin. Simon ja minä rupesimme katsomaan elokuvaa, mutta noin yhdentoista aikoihin menimme katsomaan mitä muut tekevät, ja vietimme aikaa aamu yhteen asti.

Tiistai

Aamulla viimeistelimme pakkauksen ja söimme aamupalaa. Kävimme vielä tutustumassa kilpikonnien kasvatuskeskukseen. Meille kerrottiin että Galapagoksilla oli 14 eri lajia kilpikonnia, mutta nyt niitä on vain 10 ja tuolla kasvatuskeskuksella yritetään varmistaa, ettei yksikään laji enää kuole. Sen jälkeen menimme bussiin, joka vei meidät lentokentälle. Saavuimme Quitoon joskus puoli kuuden maissa. Me mentiin Håvardin ja Simonin kanssa Pitsa Huttiin syömään (oli varmaan kolmas kerta koko vaihtovuoden aikana, kun syön pitsaa..)

Eilen mun papi soitti mulle just kreivin aikaan aamulla. Me oltiin matkalla päälinja-autoasemalle, kun se soitti ja sanoi, että älkää menkö sinne vaan menkää yhdelle toiselle asemalle. Ja saavuimme juuri oikeaan aikaan asemalle. Bussi lähti meinaan kahden minuutin päästä siitä, kun astuimme ulos taksista J Oli aika hassu olo palata Portoviejoon, kun yleensä olen tottunut palaaman matkoilta kotiin Suomeen…

Sellainen matka siis. Aivan mahtavaa oli. Mua ei enää edes huojuta sen laivailun jälkeen. Eikä mun selkään enää satu niin paljoa. Sain hieman liikaa aurinkoa. :P

Yesterday I returned to Portoviejo from a week-long YFU trip. I decided to write as soon as possible because now I still remember things that happened and what I saw.

May first we travelled to Quito in the morning. The bus ride was eight hours. We left from Portoviejo with Simon, Håvard and Lea about seven o’clock, and we were the first who arrived in Quito. We went to Subway, which was a pretty big thing, because there is no any Subway here in Portoviejo :P Later, we decided to "get lost" and we took randomly one bus to the centre. In the end, we ended up a mall a few kilometres from our hotel. By the way, it was pretty big mall, five floors... After a couple of hours hanging out we decided to go back, but we didn’t have no idea what bus to take back to the hotel. Well, then we just took one bus witch was going to right direction. Luckily, I noticed when we turned to the wrong direction. We stepped out of the bus and walked to the hotel. The rest of the exchange students had arrived while we were in the mall.

Then on Friday morning we woke up 5.30 am and went to the airport. YFU gave us breakfast packages because we didn’t have time to eat breakfast. We flew first to Guayaquil, and then the Galapagos. Galapagos time is one hour less than in Portoviejo or in Quito. At the airport we met by our guide, Jairo. We went by bus to the pier, where we took a small boat to our ship. We ate lunch at the same time we moved to the first destination. We went to a small island. The island looked just nice island with white sand, with a few large dark stones. But when we came closer to the island, we saw that the "dark stones" were sea lions. And that the island was actually quite full of them. They were really cute. We walked on the island and we took pictures. The sea lions babies were sooooo cute. We also saw a whale’s bones.

About an hour after we put snorkelling thing on and started to search the sea. During the next hour I got to see the really many colourful and wonderful fish. And they were also big. The biggest one was about 40 centimetres long. I also saw a few sea lions passing me quickly. Some saw one shark there, but I didn’t go looking for it.

After snorkelling we returned to the ship and we ate dinner. After dinner, we had free time. We sat with Arielle on the ship deck looking at the stars. And there were a looooooot of them. During the night the ship was rolling quite a lot when we were in the open sea waves, but luckily I was sleeping.

Saturday

We had been driving during the night to Galapagos’ largest island, Isabela, to the northern part. During the trip, we had crossed the equator twice. The first activity in the morning was boat ride. We saw a penguin! It was really small and kind of cute. We also saw blue- footed boobies. (All the souvenir shops were full of shirts that say "I love boobies" :P) We saw some beautiful views, tiny black sea iguanas, crabs, birds, big waves, pelicans and sea lions. Later, we returned to the ship, and prepared for snorkelling. We returned to the boat in one cave where we had been earlier in the morning. All jumped from the boat into the water. The water was quite cold because we were in the cave and the sun didn’t shine there. This time we saw small jellyfish. They were so funny. One jellyfish looked like a small pickle, but inside there were three little lights; blue, green and red. They looked like tiny tiny LED lights that turned on and off. We also saw a lot of other types of small jellyfish. With and without lights. We also saw a lot more different kinds of fish, a few turtles and one bird that can’t fly, but it wasn’t a penguin.

After lunch, we had about an hour of free time. So one girl asked that can we jump off the ship. It looked pretty fun. But I was afraid jump off from the roof, so first I jumped off from the lower layer. But later, when almost everybody else had jumped from the roof, I wanted to jump also. Our tour guide said that he will jump with me. So then I had to jump. And actually, it was pretty fun J

During the lunch we were moved to one island, Fernandina. There we snorkelled again. This time, we saw a lot of different types of sea urchins. At least three different types; one was small and green, the other was big and black, and the third was a medium-sized black but the peaks was very funny, as if the small bluish bars... And, of course, more fish. We saw this time also really close turtles. And we saw a sea lion playing in the water in front of us about two minute. The swimming seemed so effortless and easy. And his face looked so contented while swimming. Sea lions really enjoy swimming.

After snorkelling we returned to the ship, we changed clothes and went to visit Fernanda by walking. The island was full of sea iguanas. They were SO many of them. And they were only lying the cliff and warming. We also saw many crabs. The island where we were, is a volcano, and they are waiting that it will erupts in this year. In the evening, we spent some time with a few employees and Jairo in the ship.

Sunday

During the night, we were again back at Isabel. This time we started our day exploring the place on foot. We saw a big yellow iguanas. I think they were a little funny looking. They had short tail compared to their body size. I mean I'm used to seeing these really long -tailed iguanas here in Portoviejo. We were told that the iguanas who live in the mainland were on the way to Galapagos, but for some reason they didn’t ever arrive. We also saw a turtle living in the country. It was bigger than the sea turtles. And we saw a really big grasshoppers. Later, after walking we returned to the beach and we put snorkelling thing on again, and we went snorkelling. This time we didn’t see anything new; the same great fish, sea urchins and a few sea lions and turtles.

After lunch, we went to walk again in another place. We saw beautiful views and a few birds. Then was the turn of snorkelling. This time, it was cloudy so it was difficult to see anything, and the water was cold. I saw a few large starfish. So we didn’t snorkel so much. In the evening, we started to travel to the next island. In the open sea, the waves were really big and I felt a little sea sick, even though I hadn’t had before a problem with being on a ship. But on the other hand the ship was quite small and the waves were really big...

Monday

We had breakfast already at 6 in the morning.  We got to walk to the island, which was time Santiago. We saw a lot of spiders, crabs, small lizards and other species of sea lions and some great views. When we returned to the ship much earlier than usual, I went to sleep. We travelled at the same time to the next place, but the ship didn’t move so much as in the night.  Before the lunch we had one more time snorkelling. This time, Jairo came with us, and he show us a few things to see. We saw a couple of big rays, a few shark, starfish, crabs in shells. I saw one starfish, which was really great. It had small blue dots. But the blue colour was very intense blue, and it looked really cool. I am a little sad that I don’t have a waterproof camera. I mean there were so many great things in the water.

After lunch we played Uno with a small group. After dinner, we packed our bags. During the dinner we had arrived to Santa Cruz. After packing we went to the city. I felt a little weird when we walked down the street. It felt all the time that sways and my legs tried to keep me upright like when I'm in the ship… :P Almost all of us returned to the ship about ten o’clock. Simon and I began to watch a movie, but about 11 o’clock we went to look what others are doing, and we spent time together until the morning.

Tuesday

In the morning, we completed the package and ate breakfast. We went the turtle breeding centre. We were told that the Galapagos were 14 different species of turtles, but now there are only 10. In the breeding centre they are trying to make sure that none of the species isn’t dying. After that we went to the bus that took us to the airport. We arrived in Quito, about half past five. We went to Pizza Hut to eat with Håvard and Simon (it was probably the third time in the whole exchange year, when I eat pizza…)

Yesterday, my host dad called me in a perfect time in the morning. We were in the way to the central bus station, when he called and said that, don’t go there but go to another station. And we arrived at just the right time to the station. I mean the bus left two minutes from when we stepped out of the taxi J It felt a little weird to come back to Portoviejo. Because I’ve used to coming home to Finland...

That kind of trip. I was just amazing.

Ayer regrese del paseo a Galapagos. Era un paseo del YFU. Decidi escribir tan pronto como sea posible para recordar mejor las cosas que pasaron y lo que vi .

Primero de mayo viajamos al Quito por la mañana. El viaje en autobus fue ocho horas. Fuimos con Simon, Håvard y Lea como a las siete de la mañana, y fuimos los primeros que llegaron a Quito. Fuimos a comer en Subway, de verdad no es una gran cosa, pero es que aqui en Portoviejo no hay :P Mas tarde, decidimos “perdernos", y cojimos uno de los autobuses que fue al centro de la ciudad. Al final, fuimos a un centro comercial unos kilómetros del hotel. Y de verdad fue un centro comercial enorme, cinco pisos... Despues de unas horas decidimos regresar, pero no tuvimos ni idea que autobus hay q coger para volver al hotel. Luego cojimos un bus q estaba yendo a la direccion correcta. Afortunadamente, me di cuenta cuando nos fuimos a la direccion equivocada. Nos dejamos el autobus y regresamos al hotel a pie. Del resto de los chicos intercambios había llegado mientras estabamos en el centro.

En el viernes por la mañana nos despertamos 5.30 am y nos llevaron al aeropuerto. YFU nos dio unos paquetes de desayuno porque no teniamos tiempo para desayunar. Volamos primero a Guayaquil, y luego a Galápagos. Tiempo de Galápagos es una hora menos que en el continente. En el aeropuerto nuestro guía, Jairo, estaba esperandonos. Fuimos en autobús al muelle, de hay cogimos un pequño barcoito a nuestro barco. En mismo tiempo q amlorzamos el barco estaba moviendo a nuesto primer lugar. Fuimos a una pequeña isla. La isla se veía solo una isla de arena blanca donde hubo unas piedras oscuras. Pero cuando nos acercamos a la isla, vimos que las "piedras oscuras" eran lobos marinos. Y que la isla era bastante lleno de ellos. Eran muy lindos. Caminamos en la isla y nos hicimos fotos. Los pequños bebes de lobos marinos fueron tan liiiiindos. También vimos huesos de ballena.

Mas o menos despues una hora nos pusimo equipo de snorkeling y empesamos a ver que hay en el mar. Durante la siguiente hora, vi muchos coloridos y maravillosos peces. Y tambien eran grandes. El mayor de ellos era como 40 centimetros largo. Tambien vi un par de lobos marinos pasndome rapidamente. Algunos vieron un tiburon, pero no fui a buscarlo.

Después de snorkling regresamoa al barco y cenamos. Después de la cena, tuvimos tiempo libre. Nos sentamos con Arielle el barco en la cubierta mirando las estrellas. Y había bastantisimo estrellas.

Sábado

Habíamos estado conduciendo durante de la noche a isla más grande de Galápagos, Isabela, a la parte norte. Durante el viaje, habíamos cruzado el ecuador dos veces. Por primero hicimos un pequño paseo en los barquitos. Vimos un pingüino! Era muy pequeño y lindo. También vimos patas azules​​, y su nombre en Ingles es “boobies” (Todas las tiendas de recuerdos estaban llenos de camisetas que decían "I love boobies " (eso significa “amo los pechos”) :P ) Vimos algunos paisajes maravillojos, pequeños negros iguanas marinas, cangrejos, pajaros, grandes olas, pelícanos y lobos marinos. Más tarde, volvimos al barco, y nos preparamos para el snorkeling. Volvimos al barco en una cueva donde habíamos estado antes en la mañana. Todos saltaron desde el barco en el agua, a su vez . El agua estaba bastante fría porque estábamos en la cueva y el sol no brillaba allí. En esta vez vimos unas pequeñas medusas. Eran tan divertidos. Unas Medusas apareció un pepinillo, pero en su interior había tres pequeñas luces; azul, verde y rojo. Parecía como si unas pequeñas luces LED se encendió y se apagó. También vimos una gran cantidad de otros tipos de pequeñas medusas. También vimos mucho más diferentes tipos de peces, tortugas y un pajaro que no puede volar, pero no es pingüino.

Después del almuerzo, teníamos aproximadamente una hora de tiempo libre. Así que preguntó una chica intercambia pregunto si podemos saltar del barco. Se veía bastante divertido. Pero me temo un poco, así que la primera vez salte del un piso mas bajo. Pero más tarde, cuando casi todo el mundo había saltado desde el techo, yo tambien quería saltar desde alla. Nuestro guía dijo que va a saltar conmigo. Así que tuve que saltar. Y, de hecho, era bastante divertido J

Durante el almuerzo nos cambiamos a la isla q se llama Fernandina. Hay hicimos snorkeling de nuevo. Esta vez, vimos una gran cantidad de diferentes tipos de erizos de mar. Al menos tres diferentes; uno era pequeño y verde, el otro era grande y negro, y el tercero era un negro de tamaño mediano, pero los picos fue muy divertido, como unas pequñas cañas azuladas... Y, por supuesto, más peces. Esta vez vimos realmente cerca de las tortugas. También vimos un lobo marino jugando en el masr al frente de nosotros durante dos minutos o algo asi. El nado en el agua tan fácil y sin esfuerzo. Tenia una cara tan feliz. Los lobos marinos de verdad les gusta nadar.

 

Después de snorkeling regresamos al barco, cambiamos de ropa y nos fuimos a visitar Fernandina a pie. La isla estaba llena de iguanas marinas. Eran realmente muchisisimo. Y basicamente eran solo acostados en el piso calentandose. También vimos una gran cantidad de cangrejos. La isla donde estábamos, es un volcán, y se espera invertir este año. Por la noche, pasamos algún tiempo con unos empleados y con Jairon .

Domingo

Durante la noche, estábamos otra vez regresado a la Isabela. Esta vez comenzamos nuestro día a explorar el lugar a pie. Vimos grandes iguanas amarillas. Creo que se vieron un poco chistosos. Su cola es corto en comparacion de la tamaña de su cuerpo. Es que yo estoy acostumbrado a ver estos iguanas q viven en Portoviejo y ellos tienen cola largisima. Nos dijeron que las iguanas que viven continente estuvieron en el camino a Galapagos, pero por alguna razón nunca llegaron. También vimos una tortuga terrestre. Era más grande que las tortugas marinas. También vimos unas muy grandes saltamontes. Más tarde, después regresamos a la playa y nos pusimos cosas para el snorkeling otra vez, y nos fuimos a snorkel. Esta vez vimos lo mismo q antes; peces, erizos de mar y algunos lobos marinos y una tortuga.

Después del almuerzo, nos fuimos a caminar de nuevo en otro lugar. Vimos unos paisajes maravillosos y algunos pajaros. Despues nos toco snorkel de nuevo. En esta vez estaba nublado, así que era difícil ver algo, y el agua estaba fría. Vi unas grandes estrellas de mar. Por la tarde, nos viajamos de nuevo hacia la siguiente isla. En el mar abierto, las olas eran muy grandes y me hicieron marear, aunque antes no he tenido un problema con estar en un barco. Pero, por otro lado, el barco era pequeño y las olas grandes...

Lunes

Somimos el desayuno a las 6 de la mañana,  despues fuimos a caminar a la isla, que fue en este momento Santiago. Vimos un montón de arañas, cangrejos, lagartijas y otros lobos marinos de otra raza y algunos paisajes estupendos. Cuando volvimos al barco mucho antes q normalmente, me fui a dormir. Viajamos al mismo tiempo para el próximo lugar, pero el barco no se movió tanto como por la noche. Antes de almuerzo fuimos a hacher snorkeling. Esta vez Jairo fue con nosotros y nos enseño unas cosas para que veamos. Vimos un par de grandes reyes, algunos tiburones, estrellas de mar y cangrejos q viven en almeja. Vi una estrella de mar, que era realmente genial. Tenia puntos azules. Pero el color azul era muy intenso azul, y se veía muy bien. Me senti un poco triste porque no tengo una cámara resistente al agua. Es que de verdad en el mar hubo tantas cosas cheveres.

Despues del almuerzo jugamos un rato Uno con un pequño grupo. Después de la cena hicimos las maletas. Durante la cena habíamos llegado a Santa Cruz. Después de las maletas bajamos a la ciudad. Me sentí un poco raro mientras caminábamos por la calle. Es q me senti como que si fuera en el barco... : P Bueno, casi todos regresaron al barco mas o menos a las diez. Simon y yo empezamos a ver una película, pero a las once fuimos a ver q estan haciendo los de mas porque estuvieron haciendo bastante ruido, y despues nos pasamos el tiempo juntos hasta la mañana.

Martes

Por la mañana terminamos las maletas y comimos el desayuno. Nos fuimos al centro de crianza de tortugas. Nos dijeron que en las Islas Galápagos tuvieron 14 diferentes especies de tortugas, pero ahora sólo hay 10. En el centro de cría y no tratando de asegurarse que ninguna de las especies muere. Después de eso nos fuimos al autobús que nos llevó al aeropuerto. Llegamos a Quito mas o menos a las cinqo y media. Fuimos con Håvard y Simon comer a Pizza Hut (Probablemente era la tercera vez durante el año intercambio cuando como pizza...)

Ayer, mi papi me llamó en el mejor tiempo. Nos estuvimos en el camino a el terminal principal, pero nos dijo que no se vayan por alla. Y llegamos justo en el momento cuando el autobus iba a salir. Me refiero q el autobus salio despue dos minutos de cuando nos bajamos del taxi J Era un poco raro regresar al Portoviejo despues del paseo. Es q normalmente estoy acostumbrado a volver a casa a Finlandia...

Así era el viaje. Simplemente era increíble.

Mi cumpleaños y algo mas

Oon taas vähän unohtanut kirjoittaa, mutta nyt sitten vihdoin ryhdistäydyin ja rupesin kirjoittamaan.

Viime kuun puolella aloitimme, me vaihto-oppilaat, sosiaalityö SOLCA-nimisessä syöpäsairaalassa. Menin aamuisin noin puoli yhdeksältä sairaalan. Sairaalassa on vapaaehtoisvoimalla toimiva naisten komitea, joka aamuisin jakaa sairaalan asiakkaille teetä ja keksejä. Meidän tehtävänä oli auttaa heitä. Työ ei sinänsä ollut kovinkaan vaikea, eikä vienyt kovin paljoa aikaa, mutta oli mukava. Naistoimikunnan rouvat olivat oikein mukavia. Aina välillä jos meillä oli ylimääräistä aikaa, niin saatoimme mennä leikkimään lasten kanssa. Viimeisenä päivänä me saimme hienot diplomit sairaalalta.

Yhtenä lauantaina papín serkku meni naimisiin ja sen häät olivat merenrannalla. Oli aika hienoa. Ja meidän perhettä Quitosta tuli myös häihin. Oli kiva taas tavata heitäkin. Ja häiden jälkeen osa heistä jäivät muutamaksi päiväksi tänne. Pelasimme perheen kanssa Graniumia muutama iltana, vai pitäisikö sanoa yönä. Tosi kivaa oli, vaikka seuraavana päivänä saattoi kyllä hieman väsyttää.

MIESpaciolla kuoro- ja kitararyhmät yhdistettiin yhdeksi isoksi musiikkiryhmäksi. Meillä oli heti ensimmäisenä melko tiivis viikko harjoittelua. Meillä oli suunnitteilla yks esiintyminen toisessa Pahan-nimisessä kaupungissa. Ja sitä varten me harjoiteltiin joka päivä. Ecuadorin presidentti oli tulossa katsomaan esityksiä myös. Meille ostettiin valkoiset kauluspaidat esitystä varten. Mutta esityspäivän aamuna meille kerrottiinkin, ettei me mennäkään enää esiintymään. Kaikki olivat hämmästyneitä, ettei me enää mennäkään, mutta menimme sitten pienemmän ryhmän kanssa viettämään aikaa yhteen puistoon.

11. huhtikuuta oli mun synttärit. Kutsuin noin kymmenen kaveria juhlimaan pienesti mun täysi-ikäisyyttä. Vietimme iltaa mun mummun luona. Kivaa oli. Ja sain muutamia lahjoja. Mamílta paidan, siskolta huivin, tädiltä ja serkulta hiusklipsin ja kynsilakkaa, muutamilta kavereilta suklaata ja yhdeltä kaverilta kellon.

Valitettavasti mulla oli hieman kuumetta sinä päivänä. Ja seuraavana päivänä mun tilani huononi ja lauantain ja sunnuntain olin vuodepotilaana. Luultavasti mulla oli dengue, joka tulee hyttysistä. Tosi ikävä sairastaa. Ja nyt mulla on taudin jäljiltä vielä yskä, mutta toivon mukaan se menee pian ohi. Vajaan kahden viikon päästä on Galapagos-reissu. Olisi kiva olla terveenä sitä varten J

I've forgotten to write again, but now, finally I began to write.

Last month we exchange students, started social work in SOLCA what is a cancer hospital. I went to the hospital about half past eight in the morning. In the hospital there is a Women's committee and that shares tea and biscuits to costumers. And we had to help them. The work itself wasn’t very difficult and didn’t take so much time, but it was nice. The ladies of the Women's Committee were very nice. Sometimes, if we had extra time we were able to go play with the kids. On the last day we got diplomas from the hospital.

One Saturday, the cousin of my host dad got married and the wedding was on the beach. It was pretty cool. And some of our family came from Quito to the wedding. It was nice meet they again. And after the wedding, some of them stayed for a few days here. We played Granium with the family on few evenings, or should I say night. Was really fun, even though next day I was a little tired.

In MIESpacio choir and guitar groups were mixed into one big music group. We had planned to go to one town called Pahan to perform. And for that we practiced every day. Ecuador's president was coming to see the performances. They bought us white shirts. But on the morning of the presentation, we were told that we won’t go to perform. We all were surprised, but then we went to the park to send time together with a little smaller group.

April 11 was my birthday. I called about ten friends to celebrate my birthday. We spent the evening in my granny's house. It was fun. And I got a few gifts. My host mom gave me shirt, scarf from my sister, hairclips and nail polish from my aunt and cousin, one clock from one friend and chocolate from few friends.

Unfortunately, I had fever that day. And the next day my condition worsened, and Saturday and Sunday I was in my bed whole day. Probably I had dengue, which will be mosquitoes. Real nasty sick. And now I have still cough, but I hope that it will pass soon. In less than two weeks I have a trip to the Galapagos. It would be nice to be healthy for it J

A votar, carnaval, cascada de Chindul y graduacion :)

Kuukausi ehti jo vaihtua taas. Aika rientää. Täällä on taas ollut aika paljon kaikennäköistä. Helmikuunpuolella oli yksi melko kuorotäyteinen viikko. Meillä oli keskiviikkona Santa Anassa esitys. Santa Ana on noin 50 000 asukkaan kaupunki (tai kylä?) noin tunnin tai puolentoista tunnin ajomatkan päässä Portoviejosta. Sinne avattiin kanssa MIESpacio, ja meidät oli kutsuttu sen avajaisiin. No meidän esitys meni tosi hyvin ja meidät pyydettiin sitten esiintymään seuraavana päivänä uudestaan siellä. Nyt meillä on kahden kuukauden ajan meidän MIESpaciossa ensiapuopetusta perjantaisin.

23. helmikuuta äänestettiin uudet pormestarit tai kaupunginjohtajat kaikissa kaupungeissa. Täällä oli koko syksyn ja talven kaduilla vaalimainoksia. Täällä tosi moni haluaa näyttää poliittisen kantansa. Esimerkiksi jos joku perhe omisti pienen kaupan, niin kaupan seinään oli maalattu jonkun poliitikon nimi ja numero. Meidänkin molempien autojen ikkunat oli päällystetty yhden poliitikon tarroilla. Mutta vaalien jälkeen ne poistettiin ja monet ovat jo maalanneet omien talojensa tai työpaikkojensa seinistä mainokset pois.

Aamulla me mentiin siis yliopistolle äänestämään. Kaikki Portoviejolaiset olivat jaettu eri pisteille sukupuolen ja sukunimen perusteella. Elikkkä mun veljet ja papí äänestivät samassa paikassa. Ja mun sisko ja mamí eri paikassa. Täällä on siis käytössä kaksi sukunimeä (en tiedä olenko maininnut siitä aiemmi…); ensimmäinen sukunimi on isän ensimmäinen sukunimi, ja toinen sukunimi on äidin ensimmäinen sukunimi. Täällä kaikki kysyy mun toista sukunimeä. Ja täällä muiden mielestä on hassua, että mun perheessä, siellä Suomessa, kaikilla on sama sukunimi.

Ai niin joo, äänetyksestä tuli mieleeni; tuo Ecuadorin presidentti valittiin viime keväänä. Mä olin vaan jotenkin onnistunut ohittamaan tuon tiedon, kun tutustuin Ecuadoriin netin kautta… Yks juttu muuten äänestämisestä; täällä se on pakollista. Kaikkien täysi-ilkäisten täytyy äänestää, jos ei äänestä joutuu maksamaan valtiolle 10% (muistaakseni) kuukausituloistaan. Eli joku 30-50$. 16-18 vuotiaille äänestäminen on vapaaehtoinen.

Maaliskuun alussa oli neljäpäiväinen karnevaali. Ensimmäisenä päivänä oli mun papín ja veljen syntymäpäivä, joten me juhlittiin sitä. Seuraavana päivänä me lähdettiin perhematkailemaan rannalle. Oli tosi hieno päivä. Me mentiin ekaksi Puerto Lopeziin ja söimme siellä aikaisen lounaan. Myöhemmin jatkoimme sitten Monañitaan, joka on pieni kylä meren rannalla. Se on jonkin verran suosittu turistien keskuudesta. Ranta oli ihan täynnä. Sieltä lähtiessämme poikkesimme katselemaan maisemia yhdestä merenranta kirkosta. Kirkko oli sellaisen ”vuoren” päällä.

Kolmantena päivänä suunnitelmana oli mennä yhdelle tekojärvelle, mutta linja-auto asemalle päästyä totesimme, ettei sittenkään. Jonot kaikkiin busseihin olivat järkyttävän pitkät ja aurinko paistaa porotti taivaalta. Portoviejo oli tosi autio. Kaikki todellakin oli häipyneet rannalle tai uima-altaille. Ja viimeisenä päivänä hengailtiin vaan kotona katsellen leffoja.

Lauantai-iltana me mentiin taas Jamaan. Ja sunnuntaina me mentiin rannalle piknikille. En oo ikinä syönyt kyllä niin hyvää papukastiketta piknikillä ;) Sen jälkeen me ajettiin melko pitkästi että päästiin näkemään yks vesiputous. Mutta se matka oli todellakin vaivan arvoinen. Vesiputous oli hieno ja me mentiin kastumaan sinne. Ja se vesi oli muuten tosi ihana. Yhdestä kohdasta vesi tuli sellaisella voimalla, että siitä sai mukavan selkähieronnan.

Torstaina oli meidän luokan valmistujaiset. Vaihto-oppilaat eivät voineet valmistua koska emme osallistuneet valmistumista edeltäviin kokeisiin. Mutta menin koululle katsomaan tilaisuutta, tapaamaan kavereitani ja ottamaan kuvia.

Month had already change again. Time is running fast. There's been a lot of things. On February we had one   choir -filled week. We had a presentation on Wednesday in Santa Ana. Santa Ana has about 50 000 inhabitants. It’s city (or village?) about an hour or hour and a half drive from Portoviejo. They opened one MIESpacio there in Santa Ana, and we were invited to the opening ceremony. Well, our presentation went very well and then we were asked to perform again the next day there. And now we have a two-month first aid classes on Fridays there in MIESpacio.

23 February was voted the new mayors in all cities. Here were election ads on the streets the whole autumn and winter. Here people really wants to show their political opinion. For example, if someone in the family owned a small shop, then the wall was painted with a politician's name and number. Both our cars windows were covered with stickers of one politician. But after the vote, they were removed, and many have already painted their houses or their jobs Ads from the walls.

So in the morning we went to the university to vote. People from Portoviejo were divided into various points on the basis of gender and last name. So my brothers and Papi voted in the same place. And my sister and mum in different places. Here they use two surnames (I don’t know if I mentioned it before...), the first surname is the father's first surname and the second surname is the mother's first surname. Here, everyone asks for my second surname. And here many people think that it is funny that my family there in Finland, all have the same last name.

Oh, yeah, yeah. From vote one thing came to my mind, the Ecuadorian president was elected last spring. I didn’t somehow find that information when I red things from Ecuador in the internet... One more thing, voting is compulsory here. All the adults need to vote. If not, they have to pay 10% (I think) monthly income to the state. So it could be like $ 30-50. 16-18 years of age, voting is voluntary.

In early March, the four -day carnival. The first day was my papí and my brother 's birthday, so we celebrated it. The next day we went to the beach with my family. It was a really great day. We went to Puerto Lopez and we ate there early lunch. Later, we continued to Monañitaan, which is a small village by the sea. It is popular among tourists. The beach was pretty full,. When we left there we stopped by to one seaside church. The church was on top of a "mountain". So the views were really beautiful.

On the third day the plan was to go to one man-made lake, but the bus station was full. Queues of all the buses were shockingly long and the sun was shining from the sky. Portoviejo was really empty. All was indeed faded to the beach or the swimming pools. And on the last day we hung out at home for watching movies.

 

On Saturday night we went to Jama. And on Sunday we went to the beach for a picnic. I've never eaten so good bean sauce at a picnic ;) After that we drove quite long to see waterfall. But the trip was really worth it. The waterfall was fine and we went in there to get wet. And the water was really wonderful. One point the water came with such force that it felt like a nice back massage.

Thursday was our class graduation. Exchange students weren’t able to graduate because we didn’t do exams. But I went to the school to look to the ceremony, to meet with my friends and take pictures.

That kind of adventures this time :)

El mejor curso en el Colegio Portoviejo: 6to "B"

En jueves era la graduacion de mi curso. Yo no gradue por que no ice los examenes de grado. Pero igual fui al colegio para ver mis amigos y sacar fotos. Mi curso es el mejor. Los voy a extrañar mucho. Y duele pensar que en mayo cuando tengo que ir al colegio orta vez mis amigos ya no estan alla. Y con quien voy a hacer relajo si Adriana y Jeny ya no estan alla? Bueno, creo que voy a tener nuevos amigos en ese curso, pero ya no sera lo mismo. Muchas felicidades a mis compañeros y todos mis amigos que graduaron :)

Ovos son ricos :3

Arki rullaa täällä aika normaalisti; aamulla kouluun ja kolmesti viikossa kuoroon. Viikonloppuisin saatan tehdä jotain kavereiden kanssa ja vietän aikaa perheen kanssa.

Mun mamí tykkää seurata tennistä, joten tuli tuossa seurattua jonkin verran seurattua Australian Openia. Samalla pelejä seuratessa tuli opeteltua suurin piirtein tenniksen säännöt ja vähän tuntemaan maailman parhaimpia tenniksen pelaajia. Mutta täällä katseltiin aina välillä sitä tennistä ihan hulluihin aikoihin; kuten puoli neljältä aamuyöllä keskellä viikkoa. Mun mamí ja veli nukkuivat olkkarissa sohvalla joitakin öitä. No tämän takia nukuin yhtenä aamuna pommiin aika reilusti, ja jäin sitten kotiin…

Kävimme yhtenä viikonloppuna mun mummun luona Jamassa. Sinne on noin kahden-kolmen tunnin ajomatka. Se on pieni kylä lähellä meren rantaa. Matkalla sinne ylitimme Ecuadorin pisimmän sillan. Mun isovanhempien talo on kiva. Kadulle päin olevalta ovelta johtaa tosi jyrkät ja liukkaat portaat yläkertaa, jossa mun isovanhemmat asuvat. Mun mielestä se talo on jotenkin hassulla tavalla kotoisan tuntuinen. Se johtuu varmaankin siitä, että lähes kaikki talot ovat tiilestä tai betonista, ja lattiat ovat kaakeloidut. Mutta tuossa talossa oli puulattiat!! Ja ennen en oikein ole sinänsä pannut merkille mattojen merkitystä, mutta jotenkin lattiat näyttää tosi tyhjiltä ilman mattoja. Ja tämänkin siis huomasin vasta siinä vaiheessa kun näin Jamassa maton lattialla. Ja myöhemmin kun meidän olkkariin tuotiin matto, niin seisoin sen päällä ja ihastelin sitä. Aikaisemmin olin kyllä pannut merkille, et meidän olkkari tuntuu jotenkin tyhjältä, mutta vasta sen maton ilmestyessä tajusin, että yks matto voi muuttaa huoneen ilmettä aika paljon.

Mulla on ollut nyt flunssa noin viikon ajan. Aika monilla paikallisillakin on ollut hiljattain flunssaa. Kaikki sanovat että se johtuu säästä. No toivottavasti se menee kohta ohi.

Aikaisemmin oon jo maininnut noista vihreistä mangoista, joita syödään suolan ja limetin kanssa, joita myydään joka paikassa. No, mango ei ole ainoa hedelmä joita täällä syödään. Tässä pari hassua hedelmää, joita ei Suomessa ole. Yksi hedelmä, josta mä tykkään, on ovo. Se on suunnilleen ison viinirypäleen kokoinen ja niitäkin syödään raakana ja kypsänä. Kun ne on raakoja, niin ne on aika kirpeitä. Ja niitä syödään, tietenkin, suolan ja limetin kanssa. Mulla on vaikeuksia saada syötyä yks pussillinen itse. Ei sillä, että yks pussillinen ois hirveästi. Mutta kun yhdistetään kirpeä ovo, suola ja limetti, niin kymmenen ovon jälkeen hampaisiin rupeaa sattumaan. Silloin kun ovot on kypsiä, niin ne ovat keltaisia tai punertavia ja makeita. Ne on yleensä silloin hieman isompia ja niissä on enemmän syötävää. Ovoissa on meinaa aika iso siemen hedelmän kokoon verrattuna. Kun maistoin ovoja ensimmäistä kertaa, niin en tykännyt niistä ollenkaan. Mutta onneksi maistoin toisen kerran, koska nyt tykkään niistä.

Toinen pieni hedelmä, joita syödään suolan ja limetin kanssa, on grosella. Se on myös sellainen pieni, suunnilleen rypäleen kokoinen hedelmä, mutta se on ikään kuin kurpitsan muotoinen ja niissä on tosi pieni siemen. Näistä mä en tykkää niin paljoa. Nää on todella kirpeitä. Siis silloin kun ne on raakoja. Uih. Siis oikeasti. Kun haukkaan yhtä grosellaa, niin saan kylmänväreitä siitä kun se on niin kirpeä. Niitäkin voi kuulemma syödä sillon kun ne on kypsiä, mutten ole vielä maistanut niitä kypsinä.

Näitä, mangoja, ovoja ja groselloja, myydään keskustassa tosi monessa kulmassa. Yleensä se on sellainen vaunu, jossa niitä myydään. Ne ovat sellaisissa pienessä muovipussissa. Ja kun ostaa niitä, jollain 30-40 sentillä, niin saat laittaa sinne pussiisi suolaa ja pullosta limettiä.

Mun piti postaa tää jo noin viikko sitten, mutta se nyt vähän jäi… Joten jatkan nyt tähän perään viime viikon tapahtumat. Meillä oli viime viikolla ikään kuin koeviikko. Eli meillä oli aamulla koe, sen jälkeen hengailua tunti pari, välitunti, koe ja taas pari tuntia hengailua. Joten oli sinänsä aika rentoa.

Keskiviikkona koulun edessä olevassa puistossa oli tapahtuma, jota menimme seuraamaan muutaman ryhmän kanssa koulusta. Siellä oli siis musiikki esityksiä, ja meidän kuorokin esiintyi siellä. Kukaan meidän koululaisista, jotka ovat myös kuorosta, eivät olleet suunnitelleet osallistuvansa esitykseen, mutta loppujen lopuksi me kaikki päädyimme laulamaan.

Esityksen jälkeen meille tarjottiin ilmaista vettä muovipusseissa. No siitähän syntyi sitten tietenkin vesisota!!! Oli muuten ikimuistoinen aamupäivä. Aurinko paistoi, oli lämmintä, leikittiin vesisotaa kavereiden kanssa ja kaikilla oli hyvä mieli J

Torstai oli viimeinen koulupäivä. Joten vietimme ystävänpäivää koulussa silloin. Olin askarrellut muutamille ystävilleni rannekorut ja rasian, jonne laitoin hieman suklaata. Kaikki kirjoittelivat toistensa paitoihin terveisiä.

Perjantaina sitten menin MIESpacion teatterilaisten kanssa kaupungille jakamaan haleja ystävänpäivän kunniaksi. Se oli aika hauskaa J

My everyday live is what it is: every morning to the school and three times a week to the choir. On weekends, I might do something with my friends and I spend time with the family.

My mum likes to follow tennis, so that’s why I followed a lithe bit the Australian Open. At the same time I learned about the rules of tennis and a little bit about the world’s best tennis players. But here, we watched it sometimes in crazy times, like at half past three in the morning in mid-week. My mum and brother slept in the living room on the couch some nights. Well, because of this I wake up one morning really late and then I just stayed at home.

We went to my granny's house to Jama on one weekend. It's about two or three hours’ drive from Portoviejo. It is a small village near the sea. On the way we crossed the longest bridge in Ecuador. My grandparents' house is nice. There’s one door to the street and then there’re really steep and slippery stairs to the upper floor, where my grandparents live. I think the house is homely. It probably is due to the fact that almost all the houses are made ​​of brick or concrete, and the floors are tiled. But that house had wooden floors! And before I didn’t have noted the importance of carpets  but somehow the floors look pretty empty to without carpets. And this thing I noticed only at the time when I saw the carpet on the floor in my granny’s house. And later, when we brought the carpet in the living room, I stood on it and admired it. I had noticed that our living room feel a little bit empty, but lately realized that carpet can change the look of the room pretty much.

I've had the flu now about a week. Many locals has also had the flu. Everyone says it's because of the weather. Well, hopefully it will go over soon.

In the past, I've already mentioned those green mangos, which are eaten with salt and lime, which are sold all over the place. Well, the mango is not the only fruit what we eat here. Here are a couple of nice fruits what we don’t have there in Finland. One fruit which I like is ovo. Its size it’s like a big grape and were you can eat it when it’s raw o ripe. When they are raw they are relly pungent. And they are eaten, of course, with salt and lime. I have problems to eat one bag of ovo itself. It’s not that that those bads are so big or something, but when you combine the pungent ovo, salt and lime, after ten ovos the teeth begin to hurt. When ovot is ripe, they are yellow or reddish and swee . They are usually a little bit bigger and they have more to eat. Ovos have a pretty big seed compared to the size of the fruit. When I tasted ovos for the first time I didn’t like them at all. But, fortunately, I tasted a second time, because now I really like them.

Another small fruit, which is eaten with salt and lime, is grosella. It is also small, about the size of grape, but it is like a pumpkin -shaped and have a really small seed. I don’t like these so much. These are really pungent. When they are raw. uuuh. I really mean it. When I bite a little bit of grosella I got the chills. You can eat them when they are ripe, but I haven’t t tasted them yet.

These, mangoes, ovos and grosellas, are sold in many places in the centre. In general, it is the kind of wagon in which they are sold. They are in a small plastic bags. And when you buy them, like 30 to 40 cents, you can put to your bag salt and lime.

I thought that I would post this about a week ago, but… So now, I will continue with last week's events. Last week was an exam week. So we had a test in the morning, after that a couple of hours hanging out, break, another test, and again a couple of hours hanging out. So it was such a relaxing time.

On Wednesday in the park in front of the school was an event and we went to watch that with some groups from school. There was music shows and our choir had also one presentation there. None of the children from our school, who are also the choir, weren’t planned to participate in the presentation, but in the end we all ended up singing.

After the show, someone gave us free water in plastic bags. Well, after that we all started to play water war!! It was a memorable morning. The sun was shining, it was warm, we played a water fight with my friends and everyone had a good time J

Thursday was the last school day. So we spent Valentine's Day at school on Thursday. I did a presents to a few my friends, bracelets and box, where I put a little chocolate. All wrote greetings and messages to others shirts.

On Friday I went to the centre with guys from theatre from MIESpacio.  We gave hugs for everybody because it was a Valentine’s Day. It was pretty fun J

Algunas cosas pequeñas

Hola,

tuntuu että joululomasta on jo ihan hirveen kauan, mutta koulussahan on oltu vasta yks viikko… Ja ensimmäinen viikkokin oli sen verran mukava että keskiviikkona ei ollut koulua :P

Tällä kertaa ajattelin kertoa muutamia juttuja täältä. Koska kuluneen viikon aikana ei tapahtunut mitään sinänsä ihmeellistä. Aaa paitsi että, pääsin/jouduin puhumaan suomea, ja se oli tosi outoa Vaikka olenkin muutaman kerran puhun suomea via Skype, mutta kuitenkin… Se oli tosi outoa ja hieman vaikeaakin.

Asuminen: Mun ensimmäinen perhe asui sellaisessa ”urbanizacionissa”, joka on siis suljettu asuinalue. Siellä asuinalueella oli n. sata samanlaista asuntoa. Tai ne olivat lähes samanlaisia; yksi- ja kaksikerroksia. Alueella oli siis muutamia pitkiä rivitaloja. Mun nykyinen tätini ja mummuni asuu myös suljetulla asuinalueella, mutta se on hieman erilainen. Siellä talot ovat omakotitaloja. Ja keskellä aluetta on puisto. Asuinalueen ympärillä on siis muuri ja isot portit. Portilla on portinvartija, joka avaa ja sulkee portteja, ja katsoo kuka on tulossa sisään.

Täällä muurit talojen ympärillä on todella yleisiä. Lähes kaikkien omakotitalojen ympärillä on kaksi-kolmemetrinen muuri, ja muurin päällä saattaa olla vielä sähkölankoja, lasinpaloja tai rautaisia piikkejä. Mä asun nykyisin omakotitalossa, jonka ympärillä on myös muuri ja sähköllä toimiva ovi autoille ja ovi kadulle.

Lähes kaikissa ikkunoissa on kalterit, tai rautainen suojaverkko. Se saattaa olla todella hieno, kultamaalilla ja kukilla koristeltu, tai yksinkertainen rautainen suoja. Myös ovien edessä on samanlainen metallinen ovi. Kaikilla ei toki ole näitä, mutta keskustassa lähes kaikilla on sellaiset. Ainakin ensimmäisessä kerroksessa, jos ei muualla. Joillakin on jopa sellaisen suojatun asuinalueen sisällä vielä suoja muurit oman talonsa ympärillä.

Talot ovat joskus todella värikkäitä. Täällä näkee vihreitä, sinisiä, vaaleanpunaisia, oransseja yms. taloja. Mutta joskus saattaa olla niin että vain julkisivu on maalattu ja kolme muuta sivua ovatkin vain betonin tai tiilen värisiä. Ja toki sitten kaupungin lähiöissä ja ns. ”huonoimmilla” alueilla, talot saattavat olla vain tiilitaloja; ilman mitään väriä tai muureja. Välillä talot on vain betoniset/tiiliset seinä ja peltikatto, jonka näkee siis sisältä käsin myös.

Mutta siis asuminen, ja se, millainen talo jollakulla on, todellakin riippuu siitä, millaiset tulot ihmisellä on.

Raha ja hinnat: Täällähän on siis käytössä Amerikan dollari. Yksi dollari on noin 70-80 senttiä euroissa. Ruoka on täällä melko halpaa. Jos ostat keskustasta marketista (vaikuttaa Suomalaiselta torilta) mandariineja, yhdellä dollarilla saat ostettua 8-12 mandariinia. Ja yhdellä dollarilla saa ostettua 4-6 omenaa. Keskustasta saa ostettua pirtelöitä 75 sentillä ja yhdellä dollarilla saat ostettua hampurilaisen tai sandwichin. puolella dollarilla saat ostettua kaksi litraa riisiä yms. Jos nämä samat asiat ostaa supermarketista, ne saattavat maksaa puolitoista-kaksi kertaa enemmän.

Vaatteiden hinta riippuu todellakin siitä mistä ne ostat, ja että mitä merkkiä ne ovat. Jos osat keskustasta marketista vaatteita, niin ne ovat melko halpoja. Ostin yhdet farkut 25 dollarilla ja paidan 14 dollaria. Laatu ei tietenkään välttämättä ole mitään huippua. Noi farkut on nyt jo hieman nuhjuiset, mutta toisaalta oon kyllä käyttänyt niitä tosi paljon ja ne on pesty jo varmaan 15 kertaa. Mun serkku sanoi, että täällä voi ostaa farkkuja hinnasta 12 $ aina sataan dollariin asti. Satasen farkut tietenkin on sitten oikein merkkifarkut.

Leffat maksat suunnilleen saman verran kuin siellä Suomessa. No kyllä ne on vähän halvempia. Kävin katsomassa Hobitin 3D:nä ja lippu maksoi kai 10 $. Ja kun kävin katsomassa yhden komedian päivällä, niin se maksoi kai 4,50 $.

Liikkuminen liikenteessä: Tämäkin asia on sellainen asia, joka riippuu todella paljon ihmisen tuloista. Ja ihmisen liikkumistavasta voit päätellä jonkun ihmisen tulotason. Jos ihminen tienaa hyvin hänellä on auto; mitä parempituloiempi, sitä suurempi ja hienompi auto. Tai sitä enemmän autoja.

Hyvätuloiset voidaan jakaa kahteen ryhmään; hyvätuloiset ja ne tosihyvätuloiset. Tosihyvätuloiset asuvat hienoissa taloissa, ja heillä on uusi hieno iso maastoauto tai muutama sellainen. Ja hyvätuloisilla on maastoauto tai pari käytettyä autoa.

Keskituloiset voidaan myös jakaa kahteen ryhmään; ne, jotka tienaavat hieman enemmän kuin toiset ja ne, jotka tienaavat hieman vähemmän. Enemmän tienaavat saattavat omistaa henkilöauton tai avolava-auton. Ja se hieman vähemmän tienaavat matkustavat taksilla.

Ja ns. vähätuloiset matkustavat bussilla. Suunnilleen näin.

Yks enkuntunti, jolloin opettaja ei tullut kouluun... 

Tästä päästäänkin tuloeroihin: Täällä tuloerot voivat olla todella suuret. Täällä Portoviejossa on ainakin kaksi perhettä, jotka ovat oikeasti todella rikkaita. Heillä on meinaan todella, siis TODELLA hienot talot. Pienet palatsit. Ja sitten on niitä, joiden talo on osittain rakennettu vain bambuista. Eli täällä rikas on todella rikas ja köyhä on todella rikas. Suomessa vähätuloisten ja hyvätuloisten tuloerot eivät ole niin suuret kuin täällä. Tai oikeastaan se numeroiden välinen ero ei välttämättä ole niin suuri. Mutta kun tavarat ja asiat ovat halvempia, niin meidän mielestä ”pieni” tuloero, saattaa itseasiassa olla aika merkittävä ero.

I feel that I’ve been at school really long time even though there’ve been only one week school after Christmas vacation... And the first week was nice because on Wednesday we didn’t have school at all :P

This time I'd share a few little things here. Because during the past week, there weren’t anything special. Aaa well, only that, I got / I had to speak Finnish, and it was really weird, even though I’ve spoken a couple of times Finnish via Skype, but still ... It was really weird, and a little hard.

Living: My first family was living in a "urbanizacion", which is like closed residential area. There, in a residential area are about a hundred similar apartments. Or, they are almost similar, one - and two floors. In the area there were some terraced houses. My aunt and my grand mom live also in a one residential area, but it is a little bit different. There the houses are detached houses. And in the middle of the area there’s a park. The residential area is surrounded by a wall and the big gates. At the gate there’s a gate guard, who opens and closes the gates, and considers who is coming in to the area.

Here, the walls around the houses is really common. Almost all detached houses are surrounded by a wall, which is two to three metres high and on the wall there may still be electrical wires, pieces of glass or metal spikes. I live now in a detached house, which is also surrounded by the wall and electric-powered cars door and the door to the street.

Almost all the windows have protectors, it’s like an metal grille. It might be really nice, with gold paint and decorated with flowers, or a simple metal cover. Also in front of the door there’s like metal door. Everyone, of course, doesn’t have these, but almost all the people have them. At least on the first floor, if not elsewhere.

The houses are sometimes really colourful. Here you can see green, blue, pink, orange, etc. houses. But sometimes it may be that only the facade has been painted and the other three pages are just concrete or brick colour. And then of course, the city's neighbourhoods in the “worst” areas, the houses may be just the brick houses. Without any colour walls. Sometimes houses are just rick walls and metal roof which can be seen from the inside too.

But to the living, and what kind of house someone has, depends on what kind of income a person has.

Money and prices: Here we use the American dollar. One dollar is about 70 to 80 cents in euros. The food is pretty cheap here. If you buy in the centre in the market mandarins, with one dollar you can buy 8-12 mandarin. Also with one dollar you can buy 4-6 apples. In the centre you can buy milkshakes to 75 cents and with one dollar you can get a hamburger or purchase of Sandwich. With 50 cents you can buy two litres of rice, etc. If you buy these same things at the supermarket, they might pay one and a half to two times more expensive.

The price of clothing depends really on where you buy them and on the quality. If the centre clothes are quite cheap. I bought one pair of jeans for $ 25 and $ 14 a shirt. The jeans is now getting a bit shabby, but on the other hand I’ve used them a lot and they have been washed probably 15 times already. My cousin said that, here you can buy a pair of jeans at the price of 12 $ a hundred dollars. Hundred jeans, of course, is then the designer jeans.

If you go to a movie you will pay about the same as in Finland. Okay well, they are a little cheaper. I went to see a Hobbit in 3D and the ticket cost $ 10 I guess. And when I went to see a comedy during the day, I guess it cost $ 4.50.

The movement of traffic: Again, this thing is the kind of thing that really depends on person's income. If a person is earning well, he has a car, the higher the income of the newer and bigger car. Or bigger the number of cars.

High-income people usually have a car or couple of cars. Middle-income people travel by taxi. And low-income people travel by bus. Something like this.

This brings me to incomes: Here, the income gap can be really high. Here in Portoviejo there’s at least two families, who are really rich. I mean they have really, I mean really nice houses. Like small palaces. So, here rich is a really rich and the poor is really poor. In Finland, the difference between low income and high income isn’t that big than here. Maybe the difference between the numbers isn’t so big. But when the things are cheaper, a "small" difference in income, may be quite a significant difference here.

That kinds of little things from here in Ecaudor. This time the pictures don’t have nothing to do with the text, but can’t do anything ;)

Hola todos, bueno en esta vez escribi algo de Ecuador. Como la gente viven aqui. Osea como son las casas, porque son un poco diferente como en Finlandia. Y tambien explico un poco como son los precios aca. Bueno, en serio no se que podria escribir a mis amigos ecuadorianos, porque la semana pasada no paso nada interesante o especial... Entonces solo les digo que estoy muy feliz con mi familia aqui, con mis amigos y amigas. Y que espero que sigamos asi, porque todavia falta cinco meses antes que tengo que regresar. Aunque cinco meses suena como un corto tiempo, es un tiempo largo. Por ejemplo yo llevo cinco meses estando aqui pero me siento que llevo mas tiempo. Yo he hecho muchas cosas interesantes y lindas, que nunca voy a olvidar. Y conoci muchas personas cheverisimas, quienes voy a llevar simpre en mi corazon. Y he pasado mucho timpo divertido y reido demasiado con mis nuevos amigos. Tambien he pasado tiempo muy lindo con mi familia. Los quiero mucho ♡
